Movies I like.

I. Title: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
A.  Starring: Sean Connery, Tom Sawyer, Dr. Jackal, Capt. Nemo, Invisible Man, and Vampire Girl.

1.   What was this movie about?
It’s about a crazy madman who builds himself an army and attacks different countries in order to provoke a World War. Anyway there is a whole complicated conspiracy which is quite confusing. However the main point is this league of extraordinary gentleman (and one woman), all from novels and literature, who go out and save the world in high fashion. It has a huge climax with big explosions.

2.   Why did this movie make an impact in you? Include all elements that make it a movie any of us should see, in your opinion.

It brings many literary characters that are usually out of frame and brings them into focus and shows their true awesomeness.  After watching you never view these characters the same again. It did this for me, helping to bring me back an interest in the literature of an era.

II. Title: Jurassic Park
A.  Starring: Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Bob Peck, some other people, and DINOSAURS.

1.   What was this movie about?
A theme park where instead of seeing animals or riding rollercoasters, you see real dinosaurs. Anyway to make sure the park is ready to open a special test group of visitors come to see the park. Of course in true Murphey’s law fashion a cyclone bashes into the island and the dinosaurs start running around eating everbody.  In the end some people die (the lawyer so its ok) and the rest escape in a helicopter.

2.   Why did this movie make an impact in you? Include all elements that make it a movie any of us should see, in your opinion.
It sparked my fascination with dinosaurs and my love and true belief that it can be done in real life. Jurassic Park also brought in a new era of special effects and cinematography to the movie industry.  You only need to know three things to watch Jurassic Park. Steven Spielberg, John Williams, and dinosaurs.

III. Title: Lord of the Rings Trilogy
A. Starring: Who played them is not important, the characters are.

1. What was this movie about?
An epic quest of good versus evil. Where love strives to survive. And a lot of people die in true epic fashion.  So an evil lord named sauron creates a ring to rule all the other rings. Long story short unless you destroy the ring evil will consume everything. There’s a lot of back story but you have to read the books or watch the movie to find out. So in true happy endings at the very last second the ring is destroyed and everything works out for good.

2. Why did this movie make an impact in you? Include all elements that make it a movie any of us should see, in your opinion.
The sheer epicness of the film inspired a love for my neo medieval sci-fi fantasy addiction. It led me to read the entire Tolkien collection. It’s got a great story with stunning visuals. Even if you don’t like fantasy it’s still pretty to look at. The film also set a medium for all sci-fi films like it.

IV. Title: Kingdom of Heaven
A. Starring: Liam Neeson, Orlando Bloom (awesome right), and a bunch of Arabs.

1. What was this movie about?
It takes place during the fall of Jerusalem and follows the tale of Balain of Ibelin and how in true modes of chivalry he defends Jerusalem against Saladin and the Saracen army. Only to surrender peacefully so no one is harmed. Balain finally finds peace back in France.
2. Why did this movie make an impact in you? Include all elements that make it a movie any of us should see, in your opinion.
This movie fed my interest of medieval times and I enjoyed the epic battle scenes since they actually used thousands of extras to make the armies. The whole movie is interesting since it entertains while you learn about the fall of Jerusalem. The entire story is historically accurate. Besides who doesn’t love Orlando Bloom in fight scene.

V. Title: STAR WARS
A. Starring: Harrison Ford, John Williams, Liam Neeson, George Lucas, and a bunch of other people.
1. What was this movie about?
Ok you all know the story of the Jedi and the struggle against the Dark side. If you haven’t seen it then you my f4riend are living under a rock and need to get out of rock and go watch this movie right now. The good, the evil, the romance, the excitement, STAR WARS.
2. Why did this movie make an impact in you? Include all elements that make it a movie any of us should see, in your opinion.
It’s STAR WARS enough said. Its inspired my imagination along with the rest of the world and created a whole alternate universe my friends and I can play in. It’s STAR WARS I believe no further reason is necessary to convey the emotions and thoughts affiliated with this film.

Now for the movies I don’t like.

I. Title: MegaShark vs GiantOctopus
A. Starring: a bunch of nobodies

1. What was this movie about?
It’s about scientist who is in the North Pole and finds in an underwater glacier a Giant Octopus and a Mega Shark frozen in combat.  Any way they test some stupid weapon because the government is a bunch of idiots and lets the monsters go.  So in typical stereotypical sci fi movie style the government starts firing nukes at the monsters, but they survive. Then the scientists come up with an overly complex way to kill it and it somehow works and everything works out with the scientists being heroes.

2. Why did this movie have a negative impact on you?  Include all the elements that make it a movie any of us should never see, in your opinion.
To begin with the dialogue and visuals were horrific. The acting was unbelievably crappy, I don’t know where they these people. The visuals are just repeated and the monsters are overly exaggerated.  And all the scenes of cities and bases are absolutely devoid of life.  On a high note it gave me a standard to judge all other really bad sci fi movies.
II. Title: Into the Wild
A.  Starring: Some loser who wrote a journal

1. What was this movie about?
It’s about this successful college student who throws everything he has away and decides to live off the land as he travels to go live in Alaska.  Along the way he learns lessons and it is really inspiring and beautiful.  However he makes it to Alaska  and begins to live off the land until one day he eats the wrong plant and dies.  It’s really anti-climactic and just ruins the whole story.
2.   Why did this movie have a negative impact on you?  Include all the elements that make it a movie any of us should never see, in your opinion.
This movie had a negative impact on me because it just destroyed all hopes I had for inspirational movies.  After an hour and a half of inspiring and emotionally building stories, it then just crushes it all. Seriously, he dies at the end by eating some stupid flower, he could of at least gone out fighting. I mean he just eats the plant and suffers a slow painful death somewhat reminiscent of a victim of the Holocaust.
III.       Title: Burn After Reading
A.  Starring: Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and some other big actors.
1.   What was this movie about?
One huge misunderstanding that is overly complicated and difficult to explain.  It starts at the pentagon and then goes to personal trainer Brad Pitt. Then it goes to a cheating, sex addicted George Clooney who builds an orgasm machine in his basement. Anyway all the different stories relate and revolve around some big top secret disk.  In the end it works out and some people unnecessarily die.
2. Why did this movie have a negative impact on you?  Include all the elements that make it a movie any of us should never see, in your opinion.
The acting was the only good thing and some parts may prove funny if you’re into that kinda thing. Other than that the complex confusing plot destroys all hopes for a watchable movie despite the big actor names.  This showed me that great acting with great actors still can’t make a movie great.
